Most SPU course are 年级d according to the normal grading system outlined below; however, some courses allow students to select an alternative 年级 mode, 或只提供可选的P/NC分级. 除非注意到例外情况, normal grading is required for courses that apply to major, 小, 以及通识教育要求, 如 信贷限制.

Unless the student is incapacitated, this request should be made in writing. Documentation verifying the illness or acceptable emergency (e.g.，一封来自 a medical doctor) may be required by the instructor.

A student must be making satisfactory progress in the course at the time of the request for an “I” 年级. The instructor is under no obligation to grant the request for an “I” 年级. 然而, 如果老师选择给出“I”的分数, the instructor 和 student must formulate a plan for the student’s completion of the course requirements. 学生可以不参加 future class in which he or she is not registered as a means of working toward 完成“I”级成绩.

A timeline for course completion will be determined by the instructor 和 may be 不到一年. 然而, in all cases the student must submit final coursework to the instructor within 一个 calendar year or the “I” becomes an “E.” A student who has an "I" 年级 that has not yet been converted to a final, regular 年级 may not enroll in a course with the same subject code 和 course number.

• Some courses allow the option of a 年级 of P/NC (Pass/No Credit) rather than a regular letter 年级, 和 some courses provide only the P/NC 年级 mode.
